100 Days of Lies is at the center of attention as the production team clarifies its scheduling status. During the press conference held on September 29 at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul, the director addressed rumors regarding the tvN 20th-anniversary special project.
Addressing the Signal 2 Replacement Rumors
Addressing speculation that 100 Days of Lies was chosen as an emergency replacement for the highly anticipated Signal 2, Director Yoo In-sik stated, ‘Our schedule changes are not related to other dramas. Our goal was always to wrap up filming before the Chuseok holidays. We were aware that it was meant to air within this year, and while the schedule was demanding, everything is proceeding according to our original plan.’
An Immersive Espionage Romance
The series depicts a 100-day espionage romance between the top pickpocket of Gyeongseong who becomes a spy, and an elite interpreter at the Japanese Government-General of Korea. The show promises to deliver unique suspense by exploring the layers behind language and the complexities of being a spy planted by the independence army.
Why a 16-Episode Format?
Regarding the decision to produce the show as a 16-episode series, Director Yoo explained, ‘Working with writer Ryu Bo-ri, we felt that the transformation of the characters amidst the turbulent era required more depth. A 10-episode or 12-episode run would not have been enough to capture the richness of this story. We put significant effort into the historical production design, despite the scarcity of original buildings from that period, to ensure the era is represented as authentically as possible.’ 100 Days of Lies is set to premiere on October 10.
