Samsung Electronics’ 2026 Best Inventions lineup, including the ‘Galaxy S26 Ultra’, ‘Bespoke AI Family Hub Refrigerator’, and ‘Odyssey G8′, alongside LG Electronics’ ‘Signature OLED W’, have been named to TIME magazine’s list of ‘The Best Inventions of 2026’.
US weekly magazine TIME annually selects and announces ‘The Best Inventions’ that transform daily life. In this year’s selection, three products from Samsung Electronics and one from LG Electronics were chosen.
Samsung’s three products are the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the Bespoke AI Family Hub Refrigerator, and the Odyssey G8. They were recognized as masterpieces in the Consumer Electronics, Household, and Entertainment & Gaming categories, respectively.
The ‘Galaxy S26 Ultra’ received high praise for its display equipped with privacy protection features. TIME evaluated the core strength as the ‘Privacy Display’, which effectively blocks peeping from the sides. The ability for users to directly set the activation timing of the privacy display or selectively apply it to specific content such as pop-up notifications also received praise.
The ‘Bespoke AI Family Hub’ refrigerator drew attention for its ‘AI Vision’. ‘AI Vision’ is a feature that automatically recognizes and manages ingredients using an internal camera. Since Samsung Electronics first introduced AI Vision to the Family Hub in 2024, it has continuously advanced related technologies to develop differentiated ingredient storage and management experiences. Using the SmartThings app, an AI-based integrated connection platform, users can easily check the list of ingredients inside the refrigerator, and the ‘AI Food Manager’ systematically manages the expiration dates of ingredients.
The ‘Odyssey G8’ is the first gaming monitor to support 6K ultra-high resolution. The 6K high-resolution monitor provides detailed picture quality and overwhelming visual immersion. It features a ‘Dual Mode’ that allows users to freely switch between a 6K and 165Hz ultra-high resolution mode and a 3K and 330Hz ultra-high refresh rate mode depending on the game genre or usage environment, delivering an optimal gaming experience. In addition, the ‘HDR10+ Gaming’ technology analyzes game scenes and frames to realize vivid image quality.
LG Electronics’ winning product is the wireless wallpaper TV, ‘LG SIGNATURE OLED W (international name W6)’. This product was selected as a top invention in the Consumer Electronics category.
TIME focused on the fact that this product overcame the limitations of wallpaper TV design and installation. While conventional wallpaper TVs had to place the hardware required to drive the TV externally to implement an ultra-slim design, LG Electronics eliminated complex connection cables around the screen with the ‘Zero Connect Box’, which houses the main hardware and can be installed up to 10 meters away. It is an all-in-one product with a thickness in the 9mm range and built-in speakers.
TIME’s list of innovative inventions selected this year reaches 300 in total.
