Some iPhone Owners Could Receive Up to $95
Apple has agreed to a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit over advertising claims related to its Apple Intelligence and Siri artificial intelligence features, potentially making millions of iPhone buyers eligible for cash payments.
The lawsuit alleged that Apple promoted next-generation Siri AI capabilities during the launch of the iPhone 16 in 2024 even though some of the advertised features were not yet available. Plaintiffs argued that consumers were misled into purchasing the devices based on promises of AI functions that had not been released.
Under the proposed settlement, approximately 37 million devices sold in the United States between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025 would qualify for compensation. Eligible models include all iPhone 16 series devices as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Consumers could receive a minimum payment of $25 per device, with payouts potentially increasing to as much as $95 depending on the number of claims filed and other factors.
Customers are expected to receive notification by email or mail with instructions on how to file claims through the settlement website.
The case was filed in federal court in Northern California and still requires final judicial approval. If approved, it would become one of the largest consumer-related settlements involving Apple.
In a statement, Apple said the company agreed to resolve claims related to the timing of two additional features and added that it wanted to remain focused on “delivering the most innovative products and services to our users.”
The dispute comes as Apple faces increasing pressure in the artificial intelligence race against rivals including Google and Samsung Electronics. Industry analysts say delays in rolling out enhanced Siri AI capabilities contributed to growing frustration among some customers.
