Koreatown World Cup Banners Light Up LA Streets

Koreatown World Cup Banners Bring 2026 FIFA Fever to LA

Koreatown World Cup Banners are now lining the streets of Los Angeles Koreatown as the Korean American community ramps up excitement for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The banner campaign, organized by the Korea Daily, officially launched on May 21 and features large-scale street banners installed along major roads throughout Koreatown. The project aims to build anticipation and unite the community ahead of one of the world’s largest sporting events.

Community-Wide Support for Koreatown World Cup Banners

A wide range of Korean American businesses and organizations participated in the campaign. Sponsors include Korean American banking institutions such as Bank of Hope, Hanmi Bank, PCB Bank, Open Bank, and CBB Bank. Other participating companies include Lotte Liquor, Lotteria, Sho International (Hallasan), Kang Dream Foundation, EdgeMine, Kim & Lee CPA, attorney Misoo Choi, and attorney Brad Lee.

Community organizations and public officials also joined the effort, including Los Angeles City Councilmember Heather Hutt of the 10th District, the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles, the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles chapter of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council, the Korean American Sports Council, and the Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation.

The banners have been installed on approximately 120 streetlight poles across four major sections of Koreatown. Each banner features World Cup-themed messages along with participating business branding on both sides. The displays are expected to remain in place through July, providing continuous visibility for nearly two months.

Los Angeles Prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The campaign carries added significance as Los Angeles is set to host eight matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including games involving the U.S. national team. Millions of international visitors and soccer fans are expected to travel to the city during the tournament.

Participating businesses said the campaign represents an opportunity to celebrate alongside the Korean American community while strengthening ties with local residents through sports and cultural engagement.

Organizers also noted that the project reflects the active participation of companies that have grown together with the Korean American community in the United States. Due to limited banner availability, participation was prioritized for businesses that registered early.

Industry sources added that official World Cup sponsors, including Hyundai Motor Company, are also preparing separate community-focused projects targeting Korean American residents ahead of the tournament.

The Korea Daily said the goal is to transform Koreatown into a vibrant public cheering space and media hub during the World Cup period, showcasing both support for the South Korean national team and the pride of the Korean American community.
