Customers May Receive Up to $3,500 for Financial Losses
Data Exposure Victims Eligible for $75 Payment
Claim Deadline Set for June 22
Customers of Krispy Kreme may qualify for compensation following a 2024 cyberattack that exposed sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers and bank account details.
The compensation is part of a class-action settlement related to the data breach. According to the lawsuit, Krispy Kreme failed to adequately protect customer information from hackers.
The company agreed to a $1.6 million settlement to resolve the claims, although it denied any wrongdoing or legal liability.
Under the agreement, customers who experienced fraud or financial losses connected to the breach may be eligible to receive up to $3,500. Claimants must provide documentation such as receipts, bank statements, or credit card records showing evidence of losses.
Customers whose information was exposed but who did not suffer direct financial harm may still qualify for a cash payment of up to $75.
The settlement also includes one year of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services for affected individuals.
According to the settlement website, the compromised information may have included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and financial account access information.
As part of the settlement, Krispy Kreme agreed to strengthen its cybersecurity systems and data protection practices.
The deadline to submit a claim is June 22, while the final settlement approval hearing is scheduled for July 6.
Founded in North Carolina in 1937, Krispy Kreme currently operates more than 340 stores across the United States. In California, locations include Gardena, Long Beach, and Orange County.
