This 39-day live-fire extravaganza is a brilliant collaboration between the notoriously quirky former Poltergeist chef Diego Argoti and the local favorites at Skyduster Beer. Taking over the loading deck of the former Creature Comforts Brewery in City Market South, this isn’t your average sports bar—it’s a high-octane culinary festival running through the tournament finals on July 19.

The “Fantasy Football” of Live-Fire Food Mashups

If you know Chef Diego Argoti, you know to expect the unexpected. For this World Cup Pop Up LA event, he’s turning the kitchen into a laboratory, crafting a live-fire menu (available Friday through Sunday from 4 p.m. until sold out) inspired by the teams playing each weekend.

“I’m changing the menu by the games being played over each weekend,” Argoti says. “I’ll take a look at the competing teams and do a fantasy football of those cuisines on a dish.”

Expect a daily lineup featuring short rib cheeseburgers, Jidori wings drenched in Szechuan buffalo or sticky tamarind, a pad krapow-style chicken sandwich, and a “Yuba cheesesteak” made with marinated tofu skin and celery root Cheez Whiz.

Cold Brews, Big Screens, and Heartfelt Tributes

To wash down Argoti’s mad-scientist culinary creations, Skyduster Beer is pouring a curated selection of their finest, including a Japanese rice lager, a West Coast IPA, and a Citrus Wit. Pro-tip: you can order any beer as a Michelada or get it infused with a briny pickle flavor.

With eight television screens pulsing with tournament action and music spun by DJ Half Man, the atmosphere is electric. But for Argoti, this specific World Cup Pop Up LA activation is deeply personal. The event is a tribute to his late father, an avid soccer fan who Argoti notes “would be at Estrano Verano for every single game.” Supported fully by the Skyduster team, the pop-up also serves as a sneak peek of the brewery’s permanent Silver Lake home slated for 2027.
