“Silence is a Rejection!” Actor Choi Kang-hee Warns Alleged Stalker

“Silence is Also a Rejection”: Actor Choi Kang-hee Delivers a Direct Warning to Alleged Stalker

In a powerful move that has earned widespread praise online, beloved actor Choi Kang-hee has taken to social media to publicly call out and warn an alleged stalker. Setting a firm boundary on what constitutes consent, the actress addressed a deeply unsettling incident where an individual threatened to follow her car if she didn’t respond to their letters.

On July 15, Choi shared her distress on her personal Instagram account, deciding to make the issue public to ensure the message was received loud and clear. “I’m posting this here because everyone can see it,” she wrote, detailing a creepy letter she found the day before.

When “No Response” is Taken as a Yes

According to Choi Kang-hee, the sender of the letter wrote that they would take her lack of response as “consent” and proceed to follow her car. After reading the message, the actress realized that the sender was the exact same individual who had approached her on the street just a few days prior.

“I won’t reveal your name. Please do not come looking for me. Silence is also a rejection,” Choi urged in her post. She went on to educate the individual—and the public—on the psychological toll of such behavior. “I hope you understand that trying to start a conversation without someone’s consent, waiting for them, or following them is stalking. Even if you don’t intend any harm, such behavior causes immense psychological fear.”

To ensure her boundaries are fully respected, Choi added that she will be politely declining all letters, gifts, and packages sent to her via broadcasting stations moving forward.

A Growing Crisis in the Entertainment Industry

The disturbing incident involving Choi Kang-hee is unfortunately part of a much larger, ongoing issue within the Korean entertainment scene. In recent years, high-profile stars including BTS’s V and Jungkook, Twice’s Nayeon, 2PM’s Nichkhun, and power couple Rain and Kim Tae-hee have all had to take strict legal action against obsessive stalkers.

On a brighter note, fans are rallying behind Choi as she prepares for a major career milestone. After a five-year hiatus from the acting scene since her 2021 KBS drama Hello, Me!, Choi is scheduled to make her highly anticipated stage return this September in the play Closer. Fans around the world are sending their warmest support, hoping she can focus on her upcoming performances in peace and safety.
