A major Vornado Heater Recall is currently underway, pulling roughly 255,000 popular personal tower heaters off the market. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), these cozy desk companions carry a serious risk of overheating—and even catching fire.
Why Is the Vornado Heater Being Recalled?
The issue stems from a faulty internal component: the fan blade can break away from the motor shaft. When that happens, the fan stalls out, causing the unit’s core to rapidly overheat. In worst-case scenarios, the plastic housing and surrounding parts can melt entirely.
So far, safety authorities have received 32 reports of overheating, with 8 incidents escalating into actual fires and at least one report of smoke inhalation injury.
