Actors Hong Dao, Tsuyoshi Ihara, and Stephanie Lee are stepping into a global gambling arena.
As the final installment of the ‘Tazza’ series, ‘Tazza: Beelzebub’s Song’ (directed by Choi Kuk-hee, presented/distributed by CJ ENM, provided/produced by Sidus) has teased a completely different global gambling scale compared to previous entries, it has now unveiled the new key figures shaping this high-stakes game.
The film ‘Tazza: Beelzebub’s Song’ is a crime movie where Jang Tae-young (played by Byun Yo-han), who thought he had the world in his hands through his online casino business, and his close friend of the same name, Park Tae-young (played by Noh Jae-won)—who stripped him of everything—meet again at a global gambling table for a showdown of revenge.
This series features a completely independent worldview from the first, second, and third installments. The reason viewers can enjoy the final chapter of ‘Tazza’ without having seen the previous films is that it is set against a contemporary global gambling backdrop suited for the year 2026. To amp up the excitement, the production team of ‘Tazza: Beelzebub’s Song’ released stills of actors from Vietnam, Japan, and Korea joining the international table.
First, Vietnam’s national actress Hong Dao plays Chairperson Thao, a major magnate. Chairperson Thao is someone who enjoys the thrill of the game and treats every choice as part of a grand board. Hong Dao shared, ‘When I received the offer to appear in a Korean film, it was a great joy and honor.’ Having never handled cards before, she learned everything from the rules to how to hold chips from scratch, adding, ‘I practiced so much that even my family at home became accustomed to the sounds of chips and cards.’
Renowned veteran Japanese actor Tsuyoshi Ihara takes on the role of Chairman Sasaki, who leads a Japanese corporation. With a past as a yakuza, he quietly sets up the games, yet the stakes he places are larger than anyone else’s. Ihara shared that after receiving the casting offer, he watched all three previous films in the series. ‘It was so entertaining that I decided to participate,’ he said, sharing a behind-the-scenes anecdote where, because he had frequently played good-natured roles lately, he directly took a selfie with slicked-back hair at the director’s request and sent it in.
Meanwhile, Stephanie Lee, active across modeling and acting, transforms into lobbyist Linda Park. Linda Park is a character who approaches Jang Tae-young during his visit to Vietnam, proposes a game with a high-roller, and brokers backdoor deals. Her charismatic portrayal as a lobbyist is expected to heighten the dramatic tension and deliver the iconic fun characteristic of the ‘Tazza’ series.
‘Tazza: Beelzebub’s Song’ is scheduled to hit theaters on September 23.
