Hollywood Star Amazed by US Open Trend
American actress Alexandra Daddario recently shared her very first experience trying Korean fried chicken, proving the soaring global popularity of South Korea’s cuisine. During the US Open tennis tournament, Daddario posted a video on social media capturing her surprised yet delighted reaction while opening a box of the viral dish, captioning the post with “with great food.”
The Viral $100 Luxury Nugget Phenomenon
According to local media reports like CNN, the $100 Korean fried chicken nuggets at Arthur Ashe Stadium have become a massive crowd-pleaser. New York fine dining brand ‘COCODAQ’ introduced the caviar-topped Korean chicken nuggets at the 2024 tournament and is now operating a booth at the event for the third consecutive year. Since launching in Flatiron in January 2024, COCODAQ has championed a unique fine-dining concept pairing fried chicken with caviar and champagne. Despite initial debates over the steep $100 price tag, the dish continues to draw heavy crowds and endorsements from native American celebrities.
Expanding Menus at the Tennis Tournament
Building on its previous success, the COCODAQ booth has expanded its offerings. This year’s menu features items like the ‘Gangnam Style’ chicken sandwich alongside a $28 bulgogi kimbap created in collaboration with Chef Park Eun-jo, further spotlighting South Korean flavors on a major international stage.
