Why RESENE Members Gave Up Their Phones
RESENE Woni recently revealed that all members of the rising K-pop girl group do not own personal mobile phones to prevent distractions and proactively block male idols from making romantic advances. During an appearance on the YouTube channel ‘TEO’ show ‘Salon Drip’ on September 2, 2026, member Minami shared that they have lived without personal smartphones ever since their debut lineup was finalized in South Korea.
Blocking Potential Distractions Early
Minami explained that the strict rule was implemented to avoid any potential mistakes during the crucial debut phase. When host Jang Do-yeon guessed that Woni might have been the mastermind behind the rule, Woni candidly agreed. She joked that because the members are so pretty, someone might try to approach them, so they decided to simply ban phones altogether. Woni added that when people at music shows ask for their contact numbers, they can easily reply that they do not have phones, making the excuse foolproof.
Strict Agency Guidelines in South Korea
Elaborating further, Woni mentioned that their agency CEO, who is a former singer, warned them that they were far too attractive and therefore vulnerable to risks, reinforcing the ‘eyes forward’ mentality. Meanwhile, RESENE has been enjoying a massive surge in popularity in South Korea, achieving music show success and climbing music charts with hits like ‘LOVE ATTACK’ and ‘Pretty Girl’ following viral YouTube appearances.
