Medical skincare company from Busan eyes U.S. expansion
Premium products build loyal customer base
Independent distribution network is long-term goal
“We already have the technology. If we can simply make more people aware of it, expanding globally is only a matter of time.”
Medical-grade skincare has long been an established sector in South Korea, combining dermatological expertise with advanced cosmetic science. These products, often referred to as “derma-grade” skincare, are designed to deliver professional-level skin care at home.
One of the exhibitors at this year’s K-Goods Fair in Las Vegas was Trinitas, a skincare company headquartered in Haeundae, Busan. Founded in 2020, the company was represented by its Chief Marketing Officer, Jae-min Jung.
“Our founder is a physician, and our research team developed these products to help people continue caring for their skin at home after receiving dermatological treatments,” Jung said. “We were surprised that visitors who took free samples on the first day came back the next day asking where they could purchase the products.”
The Las Vegas event marked Trinitas’ first overseas exhibition.
In Korea, the company’s customer base is largely composed of middle-aged consumers seeking high-performance skincare. Its flagship products include the Nature Glory Cream, Revital Cream, and Intensive Moisture Lotion.
The products are priced slightly above many competing brands. A 50-milliliter moisturizing cream sells for approximately 58,000 won (about $43), reflecting the use of premium ingredients such as epidermal growth factor (EGF) and other costly materials.
“Because of the quality of our ingredients, we’ve built a very loyal customer base, particularly among mature consumers,” Jung said.
Although Trinitas has been in business for only a few years, Jung acknowledged that expanding overseas remains challenging for smaller Korean companies.
“We’re still learning every day,” he said. “Breaking into international markets is a difficult hurdle for startups, which is why government support programs like the K-Goods Fair are so valuable.”
Looking ahead, Trinitas hopes to establish an independent U.S. distribution network rather than relying solely on online marketplaces such as Amazon.
“Online platforms are useful, but in the long run we want greater independence and stronger control over our brand and distribution,” Jung said. “I believe that’s the goal shared by many Korean skincare manufacturers.”
