WJSN Dayoung has officially marked the first anniversary of opening her own unique musical world as a solo artist. On September 9 of last year, Dayoung made her highly anticipated solo debut by releasing her first digital single ‘gonna love me, right?’ after about nine years since her group debut, signaling a bold new chapter in South Korea’s music industry.
Through her title track ‘body’, Dayoung vividly showcased her distinct musical color and unwavering sincerity toward new challenges. Her debut captured the hearts of global listeners, landing high on South Korea’s Melon TOP100 chart, claiming the number one spot on the Vibe domestic surging chart, and charting across major streaming platforms including Genie, Bugs, Flow, and YouTube Music.
Global Acclaim and International Recognition
Dayoung’s stellar solo debut did not go unnoticed globally. Prominent international outlets such as America’s Forbes, Britain’s music magazine NME, and US broadcasting station FOX 13 Seattle, alongside MTV channels across the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Italy, spotlighted her successful solo launch.
Following her initial success, Dayoung secured her first music show trophy and won ‘Best Solo Artist (Female)’ at the 2025 KGMA. In April, Dayoung continued her upward trajectory by releasing her second digital single ‘What’s a girl to do’. She took charge of overall album planning and production while participating in writing and composing all tracks, demonstrating enhanced musical capabilities. She also won two awards at the 35th Seoul Music Awards and ventured into her first collaboration single ‘FLIRTY’ with Jay Park, further broadening her sonic spectrum.
