On September 17, Netflix Korea released a promotional video featuring the star-studded cast of the upcoming series ‘Scandal’, including Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana. During the broadcast, Son Ye-jin opened up about the unique challenges she faced while preparing for her new historical role, revealing how her husband Hyun Bin stepped in to help her memorize difficult traditional dialogue.
Son Ye-jin Directs Hyun Bin’s Acting
While practicing together, Son Ye-jin asked Hyun Bin to read the opposing lines to check if her pronunciation and delivery were accurate. However, the initial run-through did not go smoothly because Hyun Bin read his lines too stiffly. Laughing, Son Ye-jin recalled how she had to put her husband through a bit of ‘strict training’ by telling him to put more emotion into his voice and read properly. When asked by comedian Yoo Byung-jae if her strict direction helped, Son Ye-jin confirmed that it did, expressing her deep gratitude to Hyun Bin for taking time out of his own busy schedule to support her work.
