Girls Generation Hyoyeon Discusses Her Unexpected Project
Girls Generation Hyoyeon recently opened up about how her ‘Hyorisu’ project initially began purely as a fun idea before growing into a massive undertaking. Appearing on SHINee member Minho’s official YouTube channel in late September 2026, the K-pop icon shared behind-the-scenes details about preparing for her group’s debut and the physical challenges she has faced along the way.
Facing Physical Challenges and Stamina Struggles
During the video, Hyoyeon confessed that physical stamina has been one of the biggest hurdles during practice. She candidly noted that her body simply does not recover as quickly as it used to in her twenties, even though her mindset remains stuck in the past. When discussing her workout habits, Hyoyeon surprised Minho by revealing she had not stepped on a treadmill since her senior year of high school—marking an 18-year gap from regular running routines.
From a Casual Joke to a Serious Responsibility
Reflecting on the viral nature of her remarks, Hyoyeon joked that she started a small spark that ultimately led to the creation of ‘Hyorisu’. Minho agreed, drawing parallels to his own casual comments that led to an SM marathon event, noting how important it is to watch one’s words. Although the project started as a joke, Hyoyeon acknowledged that a genuine sense of responsibility has now set in. When Minho encouraged her to join an upcoming SM running event, she playfully declined for now, stating she wants to participate only after beating fellow Girls Generation member Yuri’s personal record.
