OSEN DB.Park Ji-hyun Makes History at the International Emmys
Park Ji-hyun has officially become the first-ever South Korean actress to be nominated for the Best Actress award at the prestigious International Emmy Awards. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 2026 International Emmy Awards on September 23, marking a monumental milestone for South Korean television and cinema.
Park earned her groundbreaking nomination for her stellar performance in the Netflix series ‘Eun-jung and Sang-yeon’, directed by Cho Young-min and written by Song Hye-jin. Released in September of last year, the drama follows the complex, lifelong intertwined relationship of two friends who admire, envy, and deeply care for each other through various phases of life. Park showcased her incredible acting range by seamlessly portraying her character from a vibrant college student in her 20s to facing terminal illness in her 40s.
Global Competition and Upcoming Ceremony
For the Best Actress category, Park Ji-hyun will compete against an elite group of international talent, including Mona Mina Leon from Belgium for ‘Holy Sh*t’, Barbara Mori from Mexico for ‘La suerte de Loli’ (listed as ‘World of Luca’), and Sheridan Smith from the UK for ‘I Fought the Law’. Additionally, the Disney+ series ‘Hyper Knife’, starring veteran actors Sol Kyung-gu and Park Eun-bin, also secured a nomination in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category.
The 54th International Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 23 in New York City, where winners across all categories will be officially announced.
