An Amazon Hub error led to a bizarre situation in Oklahoma, where a family’s home was accidentally registered as a delivery station without their consent, causing strangers’ packages to pile up for about a week.

A family living in Tuttle, Oklahoma, reported that Amazon delivery drivers continuously dropped off large tote bags filled with packages right in front of their house. These items belonged to completely different people who had no relation to the household.

Kristi Duren, the daughter-in-law of the homeowners, stated, “We have no idea why they are coming here.” She added that Amazon drivers simply dropped off the hub packages on her parents-in-law’s porch and left.

Accidental Amazon Hub Designation Causes Confusion

After checking the shipping labels, Duren discovered that most of the packages were intended for other addresses within a five-mile radius.

The family was told by delivery drivers that their house was marked as an Amazon ‘Hub,’ which serves as a designated physical pickup location for customers to receive or return items.

However, it was revealed that the elderly couple in their 80s living at the residence do not even have an Amazon account.

While some drivers realized the mistake and took the items back, others reportedly left the packages behind, claiming they were “instructed to leave them here.”

Security Concerns and Amazon’s Response

The family also voiced serious security concerns. Duren noted, “They are zippered tote bags, so anyone could just walk up and take things. Who takes responsibility for that?” She further asked what would happen if people came looking for their packages, emphasizing that her parents-in-law should not have to deal with a constant stream of strangers visiting their property.

In a statement, Amazon said, “We understand the inconvenience the family experienced and sincerely apologize,” adding that they are investigating to make necessary corrections so the issue does not happen again. The company also promised to retrieve the packages as quickly as possible.

According to the family, Amazon successfully collected the problematic packages on the evening of the 24th.
