Big Hit Music has announced strong legal measures, resulting in fines for BTS malicious commenters and the arrest of a major illegal ticket scalper.
Strict Legal Action Against Malicious Comments and Defamation
On September 28, Big Hit Music updated fans on their ongoing legal actions against defamation, insults, sexual harassment, and malicious slander targeting BTS. The agency stated that they are continuously tracking down individuals who post malicious content online, emphasizing that even overseas anonymous communities on platforms like Threads, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram are not exempt from criminal punishment. Several malicious users have recently received summary fines and court rulings.
Furthermore, the agency reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against the spread of false rumors and fake news regarding the group’s albums, performances, and content across multiple online communities.
Crackdown on Illegal Ticket Scalping
In addition to combating cyberbullying, the agency addressed illegal ticket trading. A suspect who used illegal macros and other people’s names to sell concert tickets at exorbitant prices—generating over 2 billion KRW (approximately $1.5 million USD) in illicit profits—has been arrested and forwarded to prosecutors on charges of obstruction of business and violation of performance laws. Big Hit Music actively assisted investigative authorities by submitting petitions for strict punishment.
Meanwhile, BTS triumphed at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards held in the United States, winning all three categories they were nominated for: ‘Song of the Year’ with ‘SWIM’, ‘Best K-Pop’, and ‘Best Group’.
