Son Ye-jin is opening up about her experience filming the hit Netflix series Scandal, offering a rare glimpse into the chemistry behind the scenes. In a recent interview, the acclaimed actress reflected on her collaboration with co-stars Ji Chang-wook and Nana.
Reflecting on Ji Chang-wook’s Complex Performance
Addressing her time on set, Son Ye-jin expressed admiration for Ji Chang-wook, who portrays the complex character Jo Won. She admitted that while they didn’t share as many scenes as expected due to the series’ structure, his performance left a lasting impact. “He is an actor with incredible energy and detail,” she remarked, noting that seeing his work in the final product made her realize the depth of his characterization. She described the intense filming process, particularly the long-take scenes that demanded extreme emotional and physical focus.
Building Chemistry with Nana
Regarding her work with Nana, who plays the character Hee-yeon, Son Ye-jin highlighted a surprising emotional connection. Despite the characters’ antagonistic relationship on screen, she felt a sense of camaraderie and pity toward the character. “Nana has a purity that translates beautifully into her role,” Son said.
