Song Mino, a member of the group WINNER, has received a 1-year prison sentence suspended with 2 years of probation for repeatedly leaving his social service duty without authorization.

Court Verdict on Military Service Violation

The Seoul Western District Court’s Criminal Division 10 (Judge Sung Jun-gyu) held a sentencing hearing for Song Mino and his service manager, identified by the surname Lee, on charges of violating the Military Service Act.

Song was indicted for failing to show up for work for over 100 days while serving as a social service worker at the Mapo-gu Facilities Management Corporation between March 2023 and December of the following year. Manager Lee was charged with failing to properly supervise Song despite knowing about his truancy.

Prosecution Demands and Final Appeal

During the sentencing trial held in April, prosecutors demanded a 1-year and 6-month prison term for Song Mino, alongside a 1-year prison sentence for manager Lee.

During his final statement, Song admitted to the charges and pleaded for leniency, stating, “I failed to faithfully complete my mandatory military duty as a young citizen of the Republic of Korea. I hope to recover my health as soon as possible and, given the chance to serve again, faithfully finish it to the end.”
