Group NewJeans has once again proven their powerful global music influence as their mega-hit song Hype Boy surpassed 800 million streams on Spotify.

NewJeans Achieves Fourth 800-Million Stream Milestone

According to global audio and music platform Spotify on the 1st, Hype Boy, one of the triple title tracks from NewJeans’ debut album ‘New Jeans’, recorded a cumulative 800,022,045 plays as of the 29th of last month. This marks the fourth time NewJeans has achieved 800 million streams, following ‘OMG’, ‘Ditto’, and ‘Super Shy’.

Critical Acclaim and Global Popularity

Released in August 2022, Hype Boy swept major domestic and international music charts upon release with its refreshing and sophisticated sound combining Moombahton and Electropop. It drew continuous favorable reviews from critics as well as massive public appeal. Last year, prominent U.S. music magazine Rolling Stone selected the song as one of the ‘Best Songs of the 21st Century’, praising it for having ‘both a fresh, modern sound and a retro sensibility.’

Total Spotify Streams Exceed 8 Billion

Meanwhile, the cumulative playback of all songs released by NewJeans on Spotify has now exceeded 8 billion. Led by ‘Ditto’, ‘OMG’, and ‘Super Shy’ which are recording over 900 million plays, followed by ‘Hype Boy’ (over 800 million), ‘New Jeans’ and ‘Attention’ (over 500 million), and ‘ETA’ (over 400 million), the vast majority of their released tracks have achieved hundreds of millions of streams, receiving broad love from music fans worldwide.
