The Windsor Hills crash involving former nurse Nicole Linton, who was driving under the influence and killed six people in Los Angeles in 2022, has resulted in a guilty verdict on all six counts of second-degree murder. A jury found Linton guilty on all murder charges on the 2nd, and her sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 1. Linton could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The crash occurred on August 4, 2022, at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and La Brea Avenue. At the time, the Mercedes-Benz driven by Linton collided with multiple vehicles, killing six people and injuring eight. Linton, who was 37 years old at the time of the accident, was working as a traveling nurse.
Prosecutors stated that Linton was driving at speeds of up to 130 mph just before the collision and kept the accelerator pressed to the floor for at least five seconds. They also argued that she intentionally accelerated into the intersection.
Meanwhile, the defense argued that Linton experienced a medical emergency due to a seizure. Linton had pleaded not guilty to the six counts of second-degree murder. Her nursing license was suspended by court order while awaiting trial.
The victims included Asherey Ryan, her unborn fetus, her 11-month-old son Alonzo Quintero, her fiancΓ© Reynold Lester, Natesia Lewis, and her friend Lynette Noble.
Ryan, who was eight months pregnant, was reportedly on her way to a prenatal appointment with her son and fiancΓ©. The speeding Mercedes crashed into their vehicle, causing a fire that killed everyone inside the car, including the unborn child.
Family members expressed relief over the verdict while noting that the pain of losing their loved ones will continue.
Jasmond Nelson, the sister of one of the victims, said, “It has been a long and hard journey. Justice has been served, but the grief does not change or stop. We will still miss our loved ones.”
Family member Sheshiana Carr stated, “He will remain in prison, but we will also live trapped in unending grief. I am grateful that justice was served today.”
