A Korean teacher arrested in North Carolina has sparked shock after local authorities charged him with promoting prostitution in Raleigh.

The Cary Police Department in North Carolina announced that they obtained an arrest warrant on the 2nd and apprehended 26-year-old David Min Choi, a resident of Apex, on charges of promoting prostitution. He was arrested alongside three alleged accomplices: Junming Tang (51), Rimika Nakai (27), and Thi Kieu Thuong Chu (32). According to the warrant, Choi helped orchestrate prostitution alongside Tang, where women agreed to engage in sexual relations in exchange for financial compensation.

Choi had been working as a teacher at Holly Ridge Middle School in Wake County. Following the disclosure of the incident, school principal Jennifer Newby sent a letter to parents confirming that Choi was indeed a member of their teaching staff.

However, officials clarified that the incident had no connection to the school or its students. They emphasized that the prostitution charges leveled against Choi did not take place on school grounds, and no current students were involved.

Choi has since resigned from his teaching position.
