An engagement proposal for a Latino couple at a Laguna Beach park turned into a shocking incident when an alleged local resident hurled racist insults and profanity at them and their production crew.
According to KTLA5, the incident took place on the 2nd at Crescent Bay Point Park. A woman approached the crew, who were preparing for the proposal, demanding they dismantle their decorations and claiming the space was exclusively for residents without a permit.
The woman claimed she had called the police and ordered the crew to leave, shouting profanities and making racist remarks telling the Latino couple to “go back to Mexico.” The setup featured ocean views, a “Will You Marry Me” sign made of rose petals, and a mariachi band.
Groom-to-be Emanuel Banuelos stated that despite the woman’s attempt to ruin their special moment, they proceeded with the ceremony as planned. The crew shared the video on social media, noting that the proposal lasted less than 40 minutes.
The City of Laguna Beach requires permits for weddings and commercial photography in parks, though it remains unconfirmed whether the organizers obtained one. The video garnered about 1 million views on Instagram, with numerous users expressing support for the couple.
