Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Eun-jin have shattered the framework of their 10-year romance by embarking on a shocking ‘one-month other dating’ arrangement, sending a wave of melodrama tremors through the small screen.
During the 8th episode of the KBS 2TV weekend mini-series ‘Other Love Than You’ (directed by Hwang Seung-ki and Lee Ga-ram, written by Yoo Soo-ji), which aired at 9:20 p.m. on the 11th, 10-year couple Namgoong Ho (played by Seo Kang-joon) and Lee Mi-do (played by Ahn Eun-jin) reached a shocking ending after exploding their true feelings in the middle of a mudflat, leading each to seek out ‘other people’.
In this episode, Namgoong Ho seemed to be regaining peace by meticulously taking care of Lee Mi-do’s medical treatment and rehabilitation, but he faced an unexpected accident when he was isolated and went missing due to the rising tide while collecting mudflat samples. During this process, Lee Mi-do realized that Namgoong Ho’s junior colleague Park Soo-ah (played by Cho A-ram) was the ‘Deoksoon-i’ from 10 years ago who harbored feelings for him, and she sensed that Namgoong Ho had also been aware of this.
Later, Lee Mi-do rushed to the mudflat where Namgoong Ho was and poured out all the resentment and scars she had hidden behind the name of consideration. Catching the anger, contempt, and sorrow lying beneath Namgoong Ho’s sacrifice, Lee Mi-do declared that they should each try ‘other dating’, saying, “I’m going to ask that man to meet for a month. You meet that girl too,” raising the tension of the drama to its peak.
Ultimately, the two set out to find their respective ‘switches’. Lee Mi-do sought out Han Tae-seung (played by Lee Joo-an), who had left Jae-kang Law Firm and was standing on his own, and extended her hand, saying, “If one of the two had to be saved, I would choose Namgoong Ho without a moment’s hesitation,” while also asking, “If it’s alright, would you like to meet me for a month?”
Namgoong Ho also sought out Park Soo-ah. Having only endured within the familiar framework of his 10-year romance with Lee Mi-do, whom he met at age 7, Namgoong Ho confessed, “I was afraid I might get lost if I went down a new path,” but still delivered the striking proposal, “Can I be curious about you? Would you like to meet me for just a month?”
Leaving behind 10 deep years of history, the four men and women faced the unprecedented situation of ‘other dating’ for a month, raising curiosity about the future direction of their romance to soaring heights.
