A Saemaul Geumgo data leak involving approximately 400 customers has been confirmed by financial authorities. The breach compromised sensitive personal information such as names, addresses, and resident registration numbers.

According to the financial sector, Saemaul Geumgo immediately notified financial regulators following the discovery of the security breach. Initial reports indicate that the institution had previously blocked unauthorized access attempts originating from overseas Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.

However, the latest breach occurred after attackers launched a renewed offensive utilizing dozens of new IP addresses. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the exact vector and scale of the compromise.

Meanwhile, officials noted that it has not yet been confirmed whether this incident is related to recent artificial intelligence (AI) agent-based hacking attacks reported across South Korea’s financial sector.
