The movie Assassins (directed by Hur Jin-ho) continues its phenomenal ‘daebak box office’ streak, maintaining the top spot at the box office day after day even after surpassing 3 million admissions.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing network on the 14th, Assassins recorded a cumulative audience of 3,057,418 as of 7 a.m. that day, firmly securing the number one spot at the overall box office. Having crossed the 3 million mark in just 20 days since its release, the film has not only placed itself in the top 5 box office hits for South Korean films in 2026, but is also displaying unwavering ticket-power in its fourth week.

A particularly striking aspect is the reverse-running trend in audience numbers. While the second week brought in 668,578 moviegoers, the third week saw a sharp increase to 759,135, demonstrating a textbook ‘sustained blockbuster’ pattern. The viewing enthusiasm sparked by the Chuseok, National Foundation Day, and Hangeul Day holidays has carried on without fading, further propelling its long-term box office success.

The heightened satisfaction of audiences is proven by rising real-viewer ratings. As of the 14th, the Naver real-viewer rating reached 8.9 points, and the CGV Golden Egg Index recorded 92%, both rising in tandem. Rave reviews and a voluntary ‘N-th viewing’ craze among real audiences have translated directly into this rating rebound.

Directed by Hur Jin-ho and starring actors Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho, Assassins traces the suspicions and behind-the-scenes mystery of the First Lady assassination incident that shook South Korea on August 15, 1974. The film’s solid craftsmanship and the overwhelming synergy of the actors’ performances have captured moviegoers, drawing intense interest from the film industry regarding its continued long-term run.
