Former Pippi Band vocalist Lee Yoon-jung recently revealed her surprising past as the first-ever Korean artist to perform at the world-renowned Coachella music festival.

On October 15, YouTube channel ‘Not Hating Gwanjong Unni’ uploaded a video featuring a rare appearance by 90s icon Lee Yoon-jung, titled ‘First-time reveal of 90s shocking singer Pippi Band Lee Yoon-jung’s recent status after 30 years.’ During the episode, Lee reflected on her days promoting as part of the electronic duo EE and shared the behind-the-scenes story of landing a spot on the Coachella stage, stating, ‘Coachella is a massive festival, and I was the very first Korean to perform there.’

Hosts Lee Ji-hye and Kim Mi-ryeo expressed pure astonishment at the revelation. Lee Yoon-jung humorously added, ‘I stood on the Coachella stage as the first Korean back in 2011, but absolutely nobody in Korea paid any attention,’ delivering a bittersweet yet entertaining anecdote.

When Lee Ji-hye curiously asked what it felt like to perform at the massive event—comparing it to Jennie’s recent festival appearances—Lee Yoon-jung recalled sharing the lineup with global superstars like Kanye West and Paris Hilton. She drew laughter from the set by describing the star-studded backstage atmosphere: ‘When you go to the artist waiting rooms, there are only top celebrities everywhere. Instead of acting starstruck, we just tried to play it cool and pretend we weren’t amazed.’
