Moon Geun-young expressed her amazement after listening to a male contestant’s captivating performance on a recent broadcast.
During the 19th episode of the SBS variety show ‘Our Ballad 2’, the competition proceeded under the theme ‘The Song That Made Me Cry.’
When a contestant described as a ‘born-to-be vocal prodigy’ from Yonsei University’s Department of Vocal Music appeared, the panel expressed immediate concerns and doubts about classical vocal techniques even before his performance began.
However, the contestant delivered a unique ballad stage that did not sound like classical opera at all, prompting Moon Geun-young to review, “He gives off the vibe of Crush and Zion.T.” Joo Woo-jae added, “Even though he hit extremely high notes with a powerful belt at the end, it sounded very comfortable.”>
Joo Woo-jae reacted by expressing doubt as to whether he actually studied classical vocal music, while Park Kyung-lim joked, “Maybe he took a leave of absence because classical music couldn’t be heard in his voice anymore.”>
Moon Geun-young shared her impressions, saying, “I was listening slowly and caught a soulful vibe. It almost felt like jazz. It came across as very charming. I look forward to his next song.” Joo Woo-jae marveled, “Vocal majors must have different lung capacities. I watched wondering why his breath never seemed to run out.”
