The group XLOV (Umuti, Rui, Hyun, Haru) is making a comeback with a unique worldview fit for ‘global hot rookies.’
XLOV will release their 3rd mini album ‘i=!’ (I Equals I) through various music sites on the 28th at 6 PM KST.
This marks their new release in about 5 months since their 2nd mini album ‘I,God’ released last May. Having solidified their unique color with a distinct concept, XLOV is said to embark on a bold musical attempt that once again breaks boundaries.
Through their previous work ‘I,God,’ XLOV used the chess rule of ‘pawn promotion’ as a motif, delivering a story that even the most fragile existence can finally be reborn as the desired being if it reaches the finish line.
In ‘i=!’, the worldview expands to focus on the moment of choice and the alternative possibilities left unchosen behind it. It deals with the fear, terror, and confusion felt in front of results that change with a single choice, while posing an interesting question to the world that unchosen possibilities may also exist somewhere.
‘i=!’ includes a total of 8 tracks, including the double title tracks ‘Hush’ and ‘Tooth Gem Chihuahua’, alongside ‘Cat Move’, ‘All Tied Up’, ‘Silence’, ‘Tooth Gem Chihuahua (Sped Up)’, ‘Hush (Instrumental)’, and ‘Tooth Gem Chihuahua (Instrumental)’. They plan to showcase a limitless spectrum encompassing a wide range of genres from hyperpop and electronic dance to jazz-based R&B. In addition, Umuti participated in the credits throughout the songs including the double title tracks, and Hyun wrote the lyrics for ‘Silence’. With unique unit songs also anticipated, fans can expect to meet XLOV’s further-grown musical capabilities.
XLOV presents double title tracks ‘Hush’ and ‘Tooth Gem Chihuahua’ with contrasting charms. First, ‘Hush’ boasts restrained tension and bold sound added with an oriental mood over a heavy bass. It depicts the duality of life through opposing entities such as a ‘god’ guiding people to the right path and a ‘god on the opposite side’ maximizing nightmares. ‘Tooth Gem Chihuahua’ combines a strong house rhythm based on dreamcore and hyperpop, a strangely twisted sound, and repetitive vocal loops to create a unique atmosphere. It depicts a dream world where they believe a wolf raised with a chihuahua family can become a beautiful chihuahua.
