Former BIGBANG member Seungri, 36, whose legal name is Lee Seung-hyun, has denied rumors of a premarital pregnancy by revealing that he has already completed his marriage registration with a non-celebrity woman in her 20s.

In an interview with Ilgan Sports on the 28th, Seungri confirmed the marriage registration fact and stated, “We are currently not considering holding a wedding ceremony.”

Previously, online media outlet Gray News reported on the 27th that Seungri was expecting a child with his non-celebrity girlfriend, slated for birth next January. The report also claimed the couple had set up a newlywed home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and planned to hold a wedding ceremony after the birth.

Regarding the reports, Seungri remarked, “Since it is a personal matter, it is burdensome to speak about the specifics,” while adding, “Naturally, my wife and I are legally a married couple, and the claim that we ‘got married because of a pregnancy’ is not true.”

He continued, “We are not considering a wedding ceremony at the moment, and as I have come to take responsibility for a family, I feel an even heavier sense of responsibility. I deeply reflect on the disappointment and hurt I caused through my past mistakes, and I will show a changed side of myself through a quiet and sincere life.”

He also expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would appreciate it if you could warmly watch over my future life,” but requested, “However, as my family are not public figures, please refrain from excessive interest and speculation.”

Seungri was sued in August for allegedly assaulting another customer at a restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Seungri’s side maintains the stance that “while it is true he picked up a soju bottle at the time, he never swung it or struck the other person.”

Seungri debuted with BIGBANG in 2006 and left the group and retired from the entertainment industry in 2019 after becoming embroiled in the ‘Burning Sun Gate’ scandal. Subsequently, he was sent to trial on nine charges, including habitual solicitation of prostitution, violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, and habitual gambling. After a final Supreme Court ruling sentencing him to 1 year and 6 months in prison, he completed his sentence and was released in February 2023.
