Suis Yoo, a board member of the ABC Unified School District, has set a new record as the longest-serving Korean American education board member in Southern California.
Following the election, Yoo secured a commanding 62% of the vote early in the count to clinch her fourth term. Her opponent, Al Balevi, trailed behind with 38% of the vote.
Expressing her gratitude via social media, Yoo stated, “I deeply thank everyone who voted for me, the volunteers, and all those who offered unwavering encouragement and support throughout the campaign.” She added, “I will continue to work tirelessly for the schools and students within our district.”
District 2 encompasses areas such as the northeastern part of Cerritos, eastern La Mirada, and southeastern Santa Fe Springs, which are prominent Korean-dense communities near Orange County.
