The girl group LIGHTSUM is spreading the flutter of love with a sweet holiday season song. LIGHTSUM, featuring members Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, and Yujeong, released their new Japanese digital single ‘Merry Kiss’ at midnight on the 6th through various domestic and international music sites.

‘Merry Kiss’ is a new track released two months after their Japanese debut album ‘Re:idol’ in September. It is an upbeat pop song that cutely sings of pure love wishing for a Christmas miracle. With cheerful beats and bouncy melodies, combined with LIGHTSUM’s signature bright and lovely energy, the track is completed as a holiday season song full of year-end excitement.

Fairy-tale-like expressions embedded throughout the lyrics also add to the listening fun. A confession tying up one’s feelings with a bright red ribbon and the repetitive spell-like refrain of ‘Merry Kiss’ wishing for a Christmas miracle convey the fluttering excitement and pleasant butterflies of falling in love.

Renowned producers who have collaborated with domestic and international artists also lent their talents to the new song. Yumika Kondo, who worked on the popular Japanese anime series ‘Love Live!’ and songs for multiple K-pop artists, participated in the lyrics and composition. Producer pw.a, who crafted LIGHTSUM’s Japanese debut song ‘Doshite’, also teamed up with them once again.

Prior to the release, LIGHTSUM held a release event on the 3rd at Emiterrace Tokorozawa in Saitama, Japan, where they performed ‘Merry Kiss’ for the first time. The group captivated fans with diverse point choreography, including hand gestures forming the ‘M’ in ‘Merry Kiss’, hand kisses, and bell-ringing motions.

LIGHTSUM will continue their active promotions, including another Japanese album release event scheduled for the 7th at LaLaport Anjo in Aichi Prefecture.
