Singer BLACKPINK Jennie is meeting global viewers through the OST of the Netflix animated film ‘Steps’.
At 2 p.m. today (the 6th), ‘Someone to Hold’, sung by Jennie for the Netflix animation ‘Steps’, will be released across various music sites. ‘Steps’ is a unique action-comedy that reimagines the Cinderella story through the perspective of her stepsister, ‘Lilith’.
Jennie’s First Animated Film OST
This new release holds special significance as it marks Jennie’s first participation in an animated film OST. Through this project, she is expanding her musical spectrum as a solo artist and showcasing a different side of her charm.
Inspired by vintage and organic dance-pop, ‘Someone to Hold’ is a powerful ballad capturing the deep bond between sisters, serving as the emotional climax of the movie. Notably, even before its official release, the track has already generated massive buzz by being nominated for the ‘Song β Animated Film’ category at the global music awards show, the ‘Hollywood Music in Media Awards’.
Sharing Her Thoughts on the Project
Jennie shared her deep affection for the project, stating, “It was so much fun working on my very first song for an animated film. I loved the warm hearts and unique personalities of the characters, and I was so happy to be even a little part of their world.”
Meanwhile, Jennie is continuing her active solo career. Her collaboration track ‘Dracula’ with Tame Impala has maintained a long-running success on the Billboard ‘Hot 100’, spending a total of 23 weeks in the top 10, and she also released her digital EP ‘Fallen Angel’ last August.
