When a fan recently asked IU Into the I-LAND to be performed live, the beloved South Korean singer gave a surprisingly candid and unexpected response.

On November 5, IU visited the official community ‘From. IU’ on the fan platform Berryz to share a warm update with her supporters. She advised everyone to bundle up in the chilly weather, cheered on students preparing for the upcoming college entrance exams, and mentioned that she has been learning a lot lately by attending various concerts and observing stage direction, live vocals, and performances.

As the conversation flowed through comments with fans, talk naturally turned to songs they hoped to hear on stage. At around 10:15 PM that evening, one fan left a comment expressing a strong desire to hear ‘Into the I-LAND’ live. Acknowledging that it is a notoriously difficult song to sing, the fan praised IU’s exceptional high notes and pleaded, "Please perform it someday, please."

Just two minutes later, IU replied directly with a short and striking sentence: "To be honest, I don’t really have the perception that it’s my song.." This unexpected answer quickly sparked widespread buzz among fans eagerly awaiting a live performance.

‘Into the I-LAND’ is the signal song for the Mnet survival show ‘I-LAND,’ released on June 19, 2020. Produced by Bang Si-hyuk and sung by IU, the track captures the initial encounters and worldview of the program’s contestants, though it was never included on one of IU’s official studio albums.

At the time of its release, IU shared that it was a genre she was trying for the very first time. She recounted that she initially went into the recording studio with a light heart, only to end up working meticulously for eight straight hours without a break.

Even after IU’s response, comments expressing a desire to hear the track continued to flood Berryz. While some fans playfully begged her to sing it just once, others reacted with amusement to her unexpected perspective. Online communities also lit up with discussions as fans reminisced about how much they enjoyed the song and expressed their lingering hopes for a live rendition. IU’s honest reply has successfully brought a signal song released six years ago back into the spotlight.
