Little Giant ladder recall β€” 3.6M units recalled over fall hazard

Little Giant ladder recall

Millions of popular ladders tied to numerous fall accident reports are being recalled, according to federal safety regulators.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall on the 5th for approximately 3.66 million ladders equipped with Utah-based Little Giant’s ‘Rapid Lock’ height adjustment locking mechanism. The problematic locking mechanism has been found to cause the ladder to suddenly collapse during use and lead to user falls if it is not fully engaged.

The company has received 25 reports of ladders suddenly collapsing to date, with 19 of those incidents resulting in injuries.

Notably, three cases were reported involving severe head injuries such as traumatic brain injury, skull fractures, concussions, loss of vision and hearing, and cognitive impairment. The remaining 16 cases involved joint and bone fractures, lacerations, and bruises.

The recall affects 11 models, including the Adjustable Fortress 2.0, Conquest 2.0, Dark Horse 2.0, Epic, King Combo XT, Leveler, Megalite, Megalite+, Multi, Quantum, and Vector.

The affected products were sold between December 2015 and October 2026 at nationwide retailers such as Lowe’s and Costco, as well as online shopping malls including Amazon, priced between approximately $100 and $1,000.

However, products with an orange rectangular ‘QC’ sticker affixed to the side of the ladder above the locking mechanism are excluded from the recall.

In response, Little Giant has decided to provide free repair kits containing usage instructions. If the problem is not resolved thereafter, the company plans to evaluate the product condition and proceed with a replacement or refund.
