WON will release his debut single ‘Mama Song’ through various online music sites at 6 p.m. on the 8th.
‘Mama Song’ is a pop ballad that captures the longing and gratitude toward a mother in English lyrics. Completed by producer Cho Young-soo with the goal of creating music that can be listened to by one’s side for a long time rather than chasing trends, it warmly unfolds precious moments in ordinary everyday life spent with a mother.
In particular, the lyric “My only home is you in this universe” encapsulates the message the song aims to convey. The mother in the song is portrayed as a home to return to at any difficult moment and a dependable presence. It touches upon the universal longing for family that anyone holds in their heart, eliciting deep sympathy.
The musical composition also focused on the sentiment of the song. A warm acoustic guitar melody combined with an R&B rhythm creates a comfortable atmosphere, and starting with a restrained intro centered around the guitar, drums and bass are added sequentially to make the sound gradually richer. In the chorus, harmonies and strings blend together to elevate the depth of emotion. Here, WON’s soft yet soulful vocals are added to stably guide the flow of the song.
Producer Cho Young-soo, who led the launch of WON, is a composer who has created numerous hit songs such as SG Wannabe’s ‘As We Live’, Lee Seung-chul’s ‘The Person Like That’, Davichi’s ‘Love and War’, and Lim Young-woong’s ‘Trust in Me’. Having been loved for a long time through music that captures the public’s heart, he has now expanded his activity area by challenging the production of virtual artists.
Previously, producer Cho Young-soo introduced WON through an interview as “a friend who looks at people’s hearts through music rather than talking much about his own stories.” Interest is also focused on WON’s musical direction in terms of aiming to be an artist who communicates with people through music beyond simply being a virtual character.
