Madison Huang, senior director at Nvidia and the eldest daughter of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, abruptly canceled her scheduled trip to South Korea just a day before her arrival.
Canceled Key Events and Government Meetings
According to the IT industry on the 8th, Huang was originally scheduled to enter the country on that day and attend the ‘Nvidia AI Day Seoul 2026’ held at COEX in Seoul on September 9-10, where she planned to discuss physical artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation plans with government and domestic corporate officials. Consequently, a scheduled meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon on the 8th was canceled.
In particular, Huang was set to attend a cooperation event between Nvidia and domestic companies co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 9th, and co-chair the ‘Korea AI Startup Partnership Forum’ with Ryu Je-myung, the 2nd Vice Minister of Science and ICT, but these plans were called off. A photo session with Kakao Mobility on the same day and a visit to the Rebellions Bundang headquarters at 6 p.m. were also canceled sequentially.
Controversy Over Chinese Spy Allegations
Speculation suggests that Huang’s sudden cancellation is related to the ‘Chinese spy lover allegations’ surrounding her father, CEO Jensen Huang. The British Financial Times (FT) reported on the 7th (local time) that U.S. intelligence agencies have uncovered past romantic ties between CEO Jensen Huang and Alice Huang, who is suspected of being a spy for China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS). Alice Huang is a former executive at Megaspeed, a Singaporean data center company suspected of smuggling Nvidia semiconductors into China.
Three U.S. House committees, including the Foreign Affairs Committee, have requested CEO Jensen Huang to attend a closed briefing on the 18th to explain the allegations and Nvidia’s security procedures. Nvidia’s official stance is that the two individuals had a routine customer relationship and that no sensitive information was ever provided.
