Global Success and Industry Reactions to the New Hit Series
Actor and musician Pyo Ji-hoon—widely known by his K-pop stage name P.O—may not maintain a personal social media presence, but the global impact of his new Netflix series is impossible to ignore. Released on June 5, 2026, the high-stakes action drama “Teach You a Lesson” (adapted from the popular webtoon Get Schooled) has completely dominated the streaming landscape. The show secured the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s global non-English TV chart for two consecutive weeks, ranking as the top program in 46 countries and regions.
During his first-ever roundtable interview as an actor on Tuesday, June 16, Pyo shared how his industry peers have reacted to the series’ breakout success. His Block B bandmate Zico and veteran comedian Shin Dong-yup are among those keeping him informed. “Zico is incredibly busy right now, but he binged the entire 10-episode series in just two days while traveling between schedules,” Pyo laughed. “He’s already asking for a cameo appearance if Netflix greenlights a second season.” Within their cast group chat, Pyo along with co-stars Kim Moo-yul, Jin Ki-joo, and Lee Sung-min routinely share screenshots of viral fan reactions, vowing to savor every moment of their chart-topping run.
Bringing Comic Relief and Tech Support to the ERPB
In the series, Pyo portrays Bong Geun-dae, an engineering graduate from KAIST who serves as the specialized tech and cyber investigator for the fictional Educational Rights Protection Bureau (ERPB). Operating behind a keyboard rather than using raw physical enforcement like inspectors Na Hwa-jin (Kim Moo-yul) and Im Han-rim (Jin Ki-joo), Geun-dae offers critical tactical support, often dismantling cyberbullying rings and executing undercover operations.
Key Characters in the ERPB Squad
The role required Pyo to stretch his acting abilities, particularly in physically demanding scenes. “I didn’t realize how difficult it was to realistically depict being hit on camera,” Pyo admitted, reflecting on his character’s lack of combat skills. “I learned that the person taking the punch has to sell the momentum just as well as the person throwing it.” Looking forward to a potential Season 2, Pyo expressed a desire for Geun-dae to undergo martial arts training to take part in the show’s signature choreography. He also hinted at an evolving, slow-burn office romance between his character and Jin Ki-joo’s fierce inspector, Im Han-rim.
Block B Comeback Plans and Future Acting Aspirations
Pyo’s breakout performance in “Teach You a Lesson” marks a defining transition in his multifaceted career. Having debuted as a core rapper for the hip-hop group Block B in 2011, he built immense domestic popularity through legendary tracks like “Nillili Mambo” and “HER,” alongside standout stints on hit variety shows like “New Journey to the West” and “Great Escape.”
In a major announcement for the music industry, Pyo revealed that the members are actively discussing a Block B comeback scheduled for 2027. The group has been on an official hiatus since their 2017 EP Montage. “The timing has to line up perfectly, and we need the right tracklist before we return, but Block B is a home I can always return to,” he shared. While previously cast as bright, innocent characters in dramas like “Hotel Del Luna” and “Good Partner,” Pyo hopes his latest global success will pave the way for more diverse roles. “I want to build enough credibility with audiences that eventually, I can convincingly portray a complex villain,” he concluded.
