A 64-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of thefts targeting brass vases placed on headstones at a Santa Clarita Valley cemetery, with total damages estimated to exceed $4,000.
Investigation Leads to Suspect Arrest
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the investigation began in mid-August when a woman reported that the brass vase on her parents’ headstone had vanished.
Investigators subsequently discovered that multiple families had experienced similar losses. Brass vases disappeared across several grave sites, bringing the total estimated value of stolen property to over $4,000.
Suspect Apprehended and Booked
After identifying the suspect and obtaining an arrest warrant, authorities arrested 64-year-old Walter Price on grand theft charges at a home in Sylmar on the 3rd.
Price was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station jail, with his bail set at $35,000.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact number of vases stolen, whether any of the stolen items have been recovered, or the specific name of the affected cemetery.
