Shocking Theft at Santa Ana Catholic Church
A bronze Jesus statue stolen from Christ Our Savior Catholic Church in Santa Ana, Orange County, has left authorities searching for two suspects involved in the $50,000 heist. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:00 AM on August 30 at the property located on the 2000 block of West Alton Avenue.
Surveillance Footage Captures the Late-Night Crime
Surveillance cameras captured two suspects wearing dark clothing entering the church grounds carrying bags. One of the suspects used a power cutting tool to slice the $50,000 statue off its base under the cover of darkness. Police noted that only the feet of the bronze sculpture remained on the pedestal following the brazen theft.
Police Investigation and Appeal for Information
After cutting the sculpture free, the suspects dragged it off church property toward nearby Segerstrom High School, where investigators believe a getaway vehicle was waiting. While authorities confirmed the church had been targeted in previous incidents, no arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective R. Wilson of the Santa Ana Police Department at 714-245-8551 or via email at RashadWilson@santa-ana.org.
