BTS 2.0 music video has officially surpassed 200 million views, marking another milestone for the global K-pop sensation and proving their unmatched international impact.
The music video for ‘2.0’, a track from their 5th full-length album ‘ARIRANG’, crossed the 200 million view mark around 9:30 PM on the 22nd. Released on April 2 through the official HYBE Labels channel, the video achieved this impressive feat in approximately six months since the album’s release on March 20.
This makes ‘2.0’ the fastest-reaching music video from the ‘ARIRANG’ album to hit the 200 million view milestone. Meanwhile, the title track ‘SWIM’ and another b-side track ‘Hooligan’ are also continuing to draw massive popularity, having surpassed 100 million views each.
A major highlight of the ‘2.0’ music video is its witty homage to acclaimed director Park Chan-wook’s masterpiece film ‘Oldboy’. Set in a narrow hallway, the one-take sequence naturally evokes memories of the film’s legendary hammer action scene. Paired with the members’ playful acting against a backdrop of heavy noir aesthetics, along with quirky props like traditional back scratchers, taegeuk fans, and danso flutes, the video sparked an explosive reaction worldwide.
The spatial direction capturing the storyline is equally exquisite. Starting in a rundown elevator and moving up to a luxurious penthouse, the physical movement metaphorically traces BTS’s journey from the bottom to their current turning point. The powerful choreography, characterized by precise pacing and a clear narrative arc, has earned widespread acclaim.
Combining variable rhythms with hip-hop and trap elements, ‘2.0’ tells the ongoing story of BTS’s continuous growth and transformation. Lines like “Yeah, like BTS, easy to say / Who leaps over the vaulting horse every day?” reflect the blood, sweat, and tears required to reach the top. Previously, the track entered the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 50, showcasing its enduring power.
