
BTS Peru has become a massive global headline as the city of Lima buzzes with excitement ahead of the group’s historic arrival. Streets are being renamed in their honor, and major tourist landmarks are hosting special events to welcome the world-renowned pop stars.
BTS is holding its ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN LIMA’ on October 7 and 9–10 (local time) at the Estadio San Marcos in Lima, Peru. Marking their first visit to the country since their debut in 2013, local fans and visitors from all over the world are flocking to catch a glimpse of the group.
The explosive local interest in BTS is visible throughout the city. The district of Santiago de Surco temporarily renamed Sacramento Street to ‘BTS Avenue’ (Avenida BTS) for a week from October 5 to 11, installing special street signs to commemorate the group’s first visit to Lima.
Major tourist attractions have also transformed into spaces dedicated to BTS. Arco Morisco, a landmark structure in Surco’s Friendship Park (Parque de la Amistad), has been glowing with purple lights since October 5, with daily light shows scheduled through October 11.
Another iconic Lima landmark, the Magical Water Circuit (Circuito Mágico del Agua), is hosting special events as well. The Fuente de la Fantasía features music, lights, and water screen performances themed around BTS during the same period, offering a unique visual experience for local fans.
The visit of BTS to Lima extends far beyond a simple concert, drawing significant attention in the culture and tourism sectors. The official Peruvian tourism website ‘Peru Travel’ highlighted that the BTS concert serves as an opportunity to promote the country’s gastronomy, culture, and natural landscapes.
In fact, visitors who traveled to Peru from all over the world to watch the performance are experiencing Lima’s history and scenery, with possibilities of extending their trips to major Peruvian tourist destinations like Paracas and Machu Picchu. The BTS concert is effectively acting as a culture and tourism platform drawing global fans across Peru.
Previously, BTS kicked off their South American tour at the Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, Colombia, on October 2–3. They connected with roughly 100,000 concertgoers over two days, proving the intense local heat.
Local praise for the BTS concerts continued to pour in. ‘Rolling Stone en Español’ described the Bogotá concert as ‘the most anticipated concert by an entire generation,’ evaluating it as one of the major cultural events of the year in Colombia, and adding that ‘BTS met expectations and exceeded them at numerous moments.’
