Group BTS Spotify streaming record has been broken as they set a historic global milestone.

Their agency, Big Hit Music, announced on the 16th that as of the 16th, BTS’s cumulative streaming count on Spotify has surpassed 10 billion streams this year alone. They noted that BTS is the first group ever to achieve 10 billion streams in a single year.

With this, BTS has reached the 10 billion yearly streaming mark as the first group in the world. While solo artists such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Bad Bunny have previously crossed this threshold, this achievement holds even greater significance as it is a world-first for a group.

After ending their military hiatus in March, BTS made their comeback by releasing their 5th full-length album ‘ARIRANG’, which led to a 120% increase in cumulative streams compared to the previous year (4.5 billion streams). The album ‘ARIRANG’ was streamed over 5 billion times, driving this new record. This also marks the highest stream count on Spotify for any new album released this year.

In particular, the title track ‘SWIM’ from ‘ARIRANG’ was streamed approximately 1.4 million times on its first day alone, marking the highest daily streaming count for any song released this year. They have set a brand new record simultaneously with their full-group comeback following the end of their military hiatus.

BTS is currently meeting fans worldwide through their world tour following the release of ‘ARIRANG’.
