Search and Rescue Operation Underway
A Carnival Panorama passenger overboard incident has triggered an extensive search and rescue mission by the U.S. Coast Guard and Mexican authorities off the coast of Mexico. The 56-year-old male traveler was reported missing while aboard the Carnival Cruise Line vessel, which was returning to California’s Port of Long Beach after a voyage departing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Coast Guard and Cruise Line Response
The Coast Guard Alameda command center was notified of the emergency on the afternoon of the 20th. Officials immediately deployed a fixed-wing aircraft to lead the search efforts, with assistance from the Mexican Navy and nearby commercial vessels. Carnival Cruise Line stated that crew members initiated onboard search procedures and reviewed security camera footage immediately upon learning of the missing guest. The company expressed its deepest sympathies and is currently providing support to the family members traveling with the passenger. The identity of the missing man remains undisclosed as the investigation and maritime search continue.
