CIIU, JYP Entertainment’s rising global boy group also known as Closer to You, successfully wrapped up their 1st-anniversary fan meeting and cap off a vibrant comeback season. On August 29, 2026, the group hosted their anniversary fan meeting titled ‘Midsummer Rooftop Party’ in Shanghai, China. Marking one year since their official debut on August 22, 2025, with their first EP ‘Our Departure’, the members shared unforgettable moments with their fans. The rooftop party concept featured hit tracks, including a special band version of their title song ‘Closer’, alongside captivating solo performances that drew enthusiastic responses from the audience.
Dominating the C-Tro Pop Scene
Earlier on August 4, 2026, the group dropped their first mini-album ‘Closer To ‘You”, introducing a unique musical genre known as ‘C-Tro Pop’ (Chinese Newtro Pop). This blend of retro sensibilities and modern pop sound successfully targeted Gen Z fans across the globe. Their extensive offline promotions also made waves, featuring special performances across six regions in partnership with China’s Fantawild theme parks and landing an endorsement deal with electric bicycle brand Xinri E-Vehicle.
Global Rising Stars at 2026 TIMA
Continuing their momentum, CIIU took the stage at the major 2026 TIMA music awards ceremony held at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on August 22, 2026. They delivered energetic performances of their new track ‘Step By Step’ and a remixed version of ‘Closer’, further cementing their status as prominent global rookies in the international music scene.
