Devils Plan 3 winner Jeong Hyeon-gyu recently shared his honest thoughts on returning for the upcoming season despite facing heavy criticism during his previous run.

On the morning of the 5th, a press conference for Netflix’s new variety show ‘The Devil’s Plan: Dead Again’ (hereinafter ‘Devils Plan 3’) was held at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon. PDs Jeong Jong-yeon and Choi Yoon-hee attended alongside cast members including Jang Dong-min, Hong Jin-ho, Ha Seok-jin, Oh Hyun-min, Jeong Hyeon-gyu, Nucksal, Seo Chul-gu, Shin-dong, John Park, Jaejae, Stella Jang, Yurisa, Kim Dong-jae, Lee Do, Jung Won-young, and Hyun Kyung-ryeol.

‘The Devil’s Plan: Dead Again’ is a brain survival variety show where legendary players who conquered past survival games and new rising contenders compete under expanded scales and unpredictable variables to crown a single ultimate winner.

Jeong Hyeon-gyu, who won Season 2, drew significant attention by joining the cast once again. Curiosity had previously spiked when the main poster revealed him as the only participant wearing a white-toned outfit.

When asked at the event if he was the only one who failed to receive the dress code instructions, Jeong Hyeon-gyu explained, “The dress code for both last season and this season was the same: black and white, or monotone. Last season I wore gray, but this season I chose white. It was just a coincidence that I was the only one in white.”

Hearing this, Jang Dong-min joked, “There is a group chat that doesn’t include Hyeon-gyu,” while PD Choi Yoon-hee added, “The production team asked everyone to wear dark or light monotone clothes, but everyone showed up in dark colors. I only found out on that day that Hyeon-gyu was the only one wearing bright clothing.”>

She continued, “When I saw the poster later, Hyeon-gyu was the only one looking bright and pretty. We didn’t intend it that way, nor was it meant to hide any victory spoilers.”

Given the backlash and critical public responses he faced following his victory last season, his decision to return for Season 3 required deep contemplation. Addressing his choice to join again, Jeong Hyeon-gyu stated, “I thought a lot after last season. Back then, I thought winning was all that mattered by any means necessary, but I was too immature and played the game without considering the viewers.”

Jeong Hyeon-gyu added, “I am deeply reflecting on the fact that I caused trouble for many people. I decided to take on this challenge with a matured mindset to make up for those shortcomings and prove myself this season.”

Regarding efforts to protect the cast members, PD Choi Yoon-hee stated, “We take responsibility and try to actively respond to the parts of ‘The Devil’s Plan’ structure and rules that viewers point out. The production team also tried to reflect those points. Even after filming concluded, our production team made continuous efforts to closely monitor and manage the cast members’ mental well-being.”

Netflix’s new variety show ‘The Devil’s Plan: Dead Again’ is scheduled to premiere on November 10th.
