ALDI Recalls Kimchi-Tofu Kimbap Over Undeclared Tuna

Fish Allergen Omitted From Label
Product Sold in 19 States and D.C.

ALDI has recalled a kimchi and tofu kimbap product after it was found to contain undeclared tuna, posing a potential health risk to consumers with fish allergies.

New Jersey-based Gellert Global Group announced on July 2 that it is voluntarily recalling its 8.1-ounce ALDI Brand Fusia Asian Inspirations Kimchi & Tofu Kimbap.

The company said the product contains tuna, but the presence of fish was not listed on the package label. Consumers with fish allergies or severe sensitivities could experience serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions if they eat the product.

The recalled kimbap carries a “Best if Used By” date of Oct. 8, 2027.

The product was distributed to selected ALDI stores in 19 states and Washington, D.C., including Connecticut, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont and West Virginia. California was not included in the recall.

The labeling error was discovered after a customer notified the company that the package failed to disclose the presence of fish despite the product containing tuna.

An internal investigation found that the issue resulted from a temporary breakdown in production and packaging procedures, which the company said has since been corrected.

No illnesses or allergic reactions related to the recalled product have been reported.

Consumers who purchased the recalled kimbap are urged not to consume it and may return it to any ALDI store for a full refund.
