This October, Gangwon-do food festivals are transforming the region into a paradise for culinary travelers, headlined by the renowned Gangneung coffee and Hoengseong Hanwoo beef. The autumn season brings a wave of vibrant gastronomic celebrations across multiple cities, offering visitors a rich blend of local flavors and scenic landscapes.

Gangneung: Coffee, Bread, Noodles, and Tofu

In Gangneung, the 18th Gangneung Coffee Festival will take place from October 21 to 25 across the Anmok Beach area and throughout the city. Operating under the slogan ‘CoffeefulGangneung,’ the festival expands its reach citywide while enhancing ocean-view coffee experiences. Visitors can enjoy programs like ‘100 People, 100 Tastes,’ barista tables, and evening music events on the beach.

Alongside coffee, Gangneung hosts a relay of diverse food celebrations. The 2nd ‘Bread-Making Village, Ojuk’ event gathers 58 local bakeries, followed by the 5th Gangneung Noodle Festival at Wolhwa Street, showcasing regional delicacies like jang-g칼국수 alongside various global noodle dishes. Additionally, the Chodang Tofu Street festival highlights local ingredients through creative lunchbox programs.

Hoengseong Hanwoo and Yangyang-Chuncheon Trails

In Hoengseong, the 22nd Hoengseong Hanwoo Festival highlights the region’s premium beef culture at the Seomgang Stream area. Featuring 300 meticulously raised Hanwoo cattle prepared by local livestock cooperatives, visitors can select their preferred cuts and grill them on-site. The event pairs world-class beef with evening performances and scenic stream walks, celebrating a brand with a 19-year streak of consumer trust awards.

Meanwhile, Yangyang combines outdoor exploration with local dining through the ‘2026 Yangyang Local Trail Camp,’ where participants hike forest paths and the Namdaecheon stream while enjoying cooking classes featuring pine mushrooms and salmon. In Chuncheon, the ElySIAN Gangchon resort hosts the ‘Forest Bread Market,’ featuring over 100 nationwide bakeries and dessert brands allowing visitors to pair forest bathing with artisan pastries.

Ultimately, Gangwon-do’s October food festivals strategically pair iconic local ingredients with natural tourist assets—such as ocean views, rivers, and forests—providing travelers with a holistic experience of regional taste, scenery, and culture.
