Free Google Job Training for San Diego Residents
San Diego County residents now have the opportunity to access Google Career Certificates and professional AI training programs completely free of charge. Through a new partnership between the San Diego Public Library (SDPL) and Google, local residents with a valid library card can enroll in the ‘Grow with Google’ curriculum to boost their career prospects.
What Programs Are Available?
The program includes specialized training in high-demand digital sectors, such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and IT support. Additionally, participants gain access to expert-led AI education modules designed to help navigate the evolving technological landscape. All courses are hosted 100% online via Coursera, allowing users to learn at their own pace. On average, students dedicate 5 to 10 hours per week, completing the certifications within 3 to 6 months.
How to Apply for the Program
Eligibility is open to San Diego County residents aged 13 and older who hold a valid SDPL library card. Once accepted, participants receive a free 6-month pass to complete as many courses as desired. Enrollment is processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with a waiting list implemented once capacity is reached. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria emphasized that this initiative removes financial barriers to high-quality education, helping residents secure better job opportunities.
